Tips For Creating A Flawless Base

The trick to having a flawless base for your makeup is to prep your skin well at the beginning so you have the perfect canvas to work with. It really makes a hell of a difference so I thought I would share with you my tips as well as the products I like to use to achieve that.

To start, I like to cleanse my skin to remove any dirt and build up that may have occurred overnight. I've been loving the new Oil Balancing range by Sukin. The bamboo charcoal in the Oil Balancing Purifying Gel Cleanser helps to purify as well as balance my oily skin. I also have breakout prone skin so this cleanser really helps keep that under control, and soothe those areas without over drying my skin completely.

I like to exfoliate my skin about 3 times per week and Naobay's Brightening Facial Milk Scrub does a lovely job at that. It gently removes those dead, dull skin cells leaving me with soft, smooth skin.

Moisturising my skin is a step I never like to miss, especially if I'm going to be wearing makeup. Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is oil-free and lightweight in consistency but it is still so hydrating which makes it perfect for my skin type.

I then follow up with a hydrating eye cream and this makes a difference in how your concealer applies and wears under the eyes. If the skin under your eyes is dry, any makeup product will only emphasize that dryness. Not only does First Aid Beauty's 5 In 1 Eye Cream nourish and moisturise my under eyes, it also fights against wrinkles and soothes the skin.

The one product that truly makes a difference to the way my makeup applies, is a face primer. I use the Cya Later Pores Spot Primer by Australis to help minimize the appearance of my pores. Some foundations sink into my pores which really isn't a good look so this primer does a wonderful job at preventing that. It's also great at smoothing over any pimples. I apply this primer over my t-zone and this ensures that I have a smooth, flawless base so my foundation can glide on with ease.

A foundation that I can always rely on to give me perfectly flawless skin is Stila's Stay All Day Foundation. It is a very full coverage matte foundation that really does stay all day. It doesn't fade or wear off, and it's also oil-free so it's great for oily skin types. If you have uneven skin tone or imperfections, this will cover them right up. I've worn this foundation in high Summer temperatures and it didn't budge, my skin still looked flawless.

My next tip for creating a flawless base is concealer. If you're someone who has dark under eye circles or blemishes that need camouflaging, a medium to full coverage concealer will definitely do the trick. MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer is my go-to when I'm needing great coverage that lasts all day, it will stay put even in high temperatures.

After putting in all that effort into creating a flawless base, you want to set it all place to ensure it looks amazing for as long as possible. So the final product I have to share with you is the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation. You can absolutely wear this as a foundation alone but I like to set my makeup with it instead. It adds a touch more coverage to your makeup and leaves a lovely rose petal finish to your skin.

These are my tips I follow for creating a flawless base. I hope you found this post helpful.
Feel free to alter the products I mentioned to suit your skin type or budget.
