The Christmas Makeup Edit | Reds, Golds & Shimmers

'Tis the season for traditional festive makeup and I've rounded up the the classic reds, golds and shimmery goodness to get you into the holiday spirit. Every Christmas I simply cannot resist saturating my eyes in sparkles, reaching for that bold red lippie and jazzing up my nails, so here are just some favourites of mine for creating the ultimate look for a merry and bright season.

If a lip colour to stay put through all the eating and drinking is what you want, then this is the stuff! I swatched '40's Red' on the back of my hand and it wouldn't budge - not even micellar water could remove it (without vigorous scrubbing), so it has some serious staying power! The light as a feather creamy formula applies like an absolute dream with high pigmentation and a complete matte finish. If you're not mad about classic bright red shades, this brick red is the way to go as it's much deeper and vampy.

I purchased this specifically for this post because I was looking through my stash and none of my eye palettes screamed Christmas. This palette however has the most STUNNING metallic golds that I am just dying to pack on all over my lids! The plum and mauve shades are very Autumnal and you also get a few champagne-pink tones that work beautifully to brighten up the eyes. You can really intensify the metallic factor by wetting your brush which I think is perfect for a nighttime Christmas party look.

'Game of Chromes' (it's so punny I just love it!) is a muted shimmery gold that looks absolutely beautiful on the nails when the light catches it. The gel formula ensures I have a long lasting chip-free mani without the use of a UV/LED lamp. I find some of their more sheer shades to be quite streaky so you definitely need at least three coats for an opaque finish, but this particular colour is very pigmented and you could even get away with one coat if you were in a real hurry. The shimmer in this is so glitzy and glam - I recommend this one if you love a good chrome-like nail.

Without our trusty lip liner, our red lips would be a bleeding hot mess which is why it's a step I never skip (I learnt from that mistake!). What I like about this liner is how super soft and creamy the formula is, so it's not dragging or pulling along my lip line - it just glides on with ease. You can totally wear this lip liner alone and apply a shimmery gloss over the top for that extra pizzazz to your makeup look.

What's your go-to Christmas makeup look?
