Understanding Colour Correcting Concealers

Although it's near impossible to wake up with flawlessly perfected skin on the regular, it is possible to banish those troublesome imperfections through the use of colour. In this post, I will be simplifying what colour correcting concealers are all about, including how each colour targets specific skin concerns.

A pretty standard colour correcting shade that you can find on most shelves. It cancels out redness from rosacea to breakouts. So once you apply your foundation over your skin, that redness will be completely undetectable.
Try: NYX Concealer Jar.

Mostly suited to lighter skin tones with dark under eye circles (like myself). Peach shades work an absolute treat and the results are incredible! It also brightens the under eyes beautifully, making you look like you had a restful 8 hour sleep.
Try: Bobbi Brown Corrector.

Yellow correctors are exactly what you need to combat purple/blue under eyes. It's also great for toning down mild redness for a more even and brighter complexion.
Try: NYX HD Photogenic Concealer Wand.

Perfectly neutralizes sallow undertones of the skin and it can even be used to cool down yellow toned foundation shades.
Try: Urban Decay Naked Skin Colour Correcting Fluid.

For all of you ladies out there with deeper skin tones and stubborn dark under eyes, a red concealer is the way to go to banish them. If you also have dark spots that need disguising, just dab on some red corrector and you're good to go!
Try: L.A. Girl Pro Conceal.

Another great one for fairer skin tones. It instantly brightens your under eye area for a more youthful appearance, and it can also counteract brown tones including freckles, sun spots and age spots very well.
Try: Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector.

Colour correcting is based on the colour wheel, so it's always the opposite shade of what you want to camouflage. There are an abundance of fantastic colour correcting concealers and palettes that will hide all of your troublesome areas effectively, so you can look absolutely flawless and feel 100% beautiful.
