Top Spring Makeup Picks

Spring is upon us which means it's time to ditch the dark hues and dramatic eyes, for your lightweight bases and vibrant colours. This season is all about fresh faced and barely there makeup, so here are my top 5 Spring makeup picks that I am just loving right about now.

The most unappealing thing about a CC cream is that heavy greasy feeling it leaves on your skin, but the Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream is unlike the others; The formula is lightweight so it doesn't feel like you are wearing anything on your skin, and it's also very smooth in texture. It does a lovely job at evening out my skin tone and covering up imperfections, and lately it has been my go-to product for the warmer weather or when I'm having a lazy makeup day (which let's be real, is most days).

I have been a longtime lover of Revlon's Gel Envy Nail Colours because of how long wearing and quick drying they are. Not only that, but they NEVER apply streaky and there is such a wide range of colours to choose from. Royal Flush is a gorgeous dark pink shade that's great for adding a pop of colour to your Spring outfit.

When it comes to highlighting, I like to go all out for the evening but keep it quite subtle for the day time. And one of my favourite products that I like to use for creating that subtle glow is the Models Prefer Soft Touch Mineral Powder in Soft Focus. I mainly apply this over my cheekbones for a touch of luminosity or you can use it as a finishing powder for an all over boost of radiance. These powders are a fantastic dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders so if you're looking to save a fair bit of money, these are definitely the way to go!

Ciate's Pretty Stix in First Love (red-pink) is a very flattering shade on my fair skin and the packaging is just adorable! It has the texture and hydration of a lip balm but the pigmentation of a lipstick, with good staying power as well. Me Me Me (watermelon-pink) would also make a really fun day time lip colour for the season, and would go beautifully with a natural glowy base, a coat of mascara and a light blushing of the cheeks.

Speaking of blush, one that I have been getting a lot of use out of this season is the HD Blush by e.l.f. that I featured in my Blush Edit. What I love most about it is how incredibly soft and lightweight it feels on the skin. I like to blend it in with my fingertips and it takes no time at all for such an effortless look. Headliner is a very muted pink shade that gives you a natural looking flush to the cheek, like you just went for a jog around the block.
