What's New In My Makeup Stash | August

The last 'What's New In My Makeup Stash' was quite some time ago (March of this year I believe!), so this post is definitely overdue. There have been a lot of exciting new additions to my stash since March, but today it's all about the newbies of August and boy am I looking forward to sharing these four with you!

NYX BORN TO GLOW LIQUID ILLUMINATOR

I've found that the best way to apply a liquid highlighter is by mixing it in with your liquid foundation for that all over glow, and this one by NYX does a pretty good job at that! 'Sunbeam' is a pale pink with fine shimmery particles and the texture is very lightweight. I tried to dab this over the top of my foundation for a precise highlight but for some reason it just wasn't sitting well, so this definitely works a heck of a lot better mixed in with your foundation when you're wanting more of a radiant base.

ESSENCE VOLUME STYLIST MASCARA

Essence sure know how to make a fantastic mascara and some of them are long-time favourites of mine (particularly their 'I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara'). They're ALWAYS releasing new products and collections so as I was having a browse, I came across this mascara and it said "with lengthening fibers". I have limp lashes and we all dream of long wispy ones, so I did not hesitate to purchase this one. I have to say, I am mighty impressed! A few coats gave my lashes length, volume and a curl that actually held in place - mind you, I did not curl them with a lash curler so for it to do that all on its own blew my socks off considering how ridiculously inexpensive it is! I would honestly buy this mascara by the handful!

MARC JACOBS #INSTAMARC CONTOUR POWDER

I just love how this powder is the size of my hand and how sleek the packaging is - it truly does feel luxurious. I went for the shade 'Dream Filter' which suits my fair complexion beautifully. The powders themselves are extremely velvety to the touch and they blend like an absolute dream over the skin! I really like the addition of Vitamin A, C and E in the formula which is more than likely the reason why it feels and applies so smoothly. The finish is definitely subtle, so if you prefer a natural contour then this is for you.

RIMMEL LOOSE POWDER

Finding an affordable loose face powder that is lighter than my skin tone for the purpose of baking with are hard to come by, but thankfully, Rimmel came to the rescue and I am one happy girl! It's silky, lightweight and gives me that airbrushed poreless finish to my base. I like to pick up the powder with a beauty sponge, dab it along my t-zone, let it "bake" for a few minutes before dusting away. My makeup always looks flawless when I use this technique and if you're not doing so already, get on it because it makes a big difference!
