The Face Powder Edit

Face powders are in everyone's kit and play a massive role in our makeup routine because without them, our makeup would be sliding off our face (which is less than ideal!). Today I'm bringing you four powders that do a wonderful job at setting your base and really help to extend the wear of your makeup, so you can look flawless all day long.

If you have oily skin that needs controlling, then you would know that a mattifying powder is your makeup bff. I like this particular one by Maybelline because it's very smooth and fine in texture so it doesn't make your face look cakey or heavy. I have the shade 'Classic Ivory' which is great for fair skin tones and it also adds a small amount of coverage over your foundation. The only thing I'm not too fond of is the packaging. You have to unscrew the lid to get to the product which can be a bit of a hassle for touching up on-the-go and it doesn't come with a mirror either, but apart from that it's a good inexpensive face powder.

Technically this is a powder foundation but I generally use it to set my entire face. All you need is a light dusting and your makeup is instantly mattified, but it doesn't leave you with that flat matte finish like some powders; it's more of a soft rose petal finish that looks beautiful on the skin. As soon as you open the compact, you get a whiff of cocoa and it smells absolutely heavenly!

Because this powder is so finely milled, it's my favourite for setting under the eyes after I've applied my concealer and it doesn't settle into those fine lines at all. It keeps my under eyes feeling incredibly silky smooth and prevents any kind of creasing. It can get quite messy (like all loose powders) but it doesn't bother me and it works amazingly well with a brush or damp beauty sponge. I just love how lightweight this powder is and a little goes a very long way so it's great value for money.

I think this may have been the first time I came across a BB powder and I have to say, I'm a fan! It feels almost like pure velvet and it sort of just melts into the skin becoming virtually undetectable. I can't say I see a difference between a regular powder and a BB powder, but I still love it nonetheless and it helps to keep shine away which is good enough for me!
