Review | NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil

As I was casually browsing the NYX display (I hadn't purchased anything by them for a long while - shame on me), I spotted their Tinted Skin Veil which sounded incredible since my go-to makeup looks lately have been minimal and fresh-faced. I made it mine within three minutes and I have been wearing it ever since.

DESCRIPTION

A lightweight tinted 'skin veil' that helps to even out your natural skin tone and leaves skin with a smooth satin finish. Infused with cucumber and aloe extract to keep skin hydrated for up to eight hours.

PACKAGING

The squeeze tube makes it very travel-friendly and I love the simple nude-pink design. It holds just under the standard 30ml of product which is A LOT more than their Total Control Drop Foundation (only 13ml for the same price!).

FORMULA

Lightweight yet creamy, breathable and non-comedogenic too which is amazing for blemish prone skin types like myself. I've found the best way to apply this is definitely not with the fingers, but with a foundation buffing brush to really ensure there are no streaks or patchiness.

COVERAGE

As the title and description suggests, it is just a tint for your skin so I like to wear this on my better skin days and then add concealer over any problem areas. It layers quite well so if you do need a touch more coverage you can absolutely do that without the risk of it looking cakey or feeling heavy.

FINISH

It leaves a very fresh, satin finish to the skin perfect for "no-makeup, makeup" looks. I did notice it to latch onto dry patches on the skin so be sure to moisturise well prior to application. Not sure how this would perform or drier skin types if it's emphasising dry areas on my oily skin. It's one of those bases that looks better over time once it melts into the skin.

LONGEVITY

Holds up surprisingly well for such a lightweight product on my skin type. I did become a bit too dewy (if that's even possible) once my natural oils peeked through after a good five hours, but it was nothing some blotting couldn't fix. It didn't separate or oxidize throughout the day and the shade range is great!

PROS

Satin finish
Breathable
Second skin feel
Won't clog pores
Doesn't oxidize
Looks beautiful on the skin
Not cakey
Contains cucumber and aloe
Variety of shades
Travel-friendly

CONS

Skin has to be well prepped to avoid it emphasizing dryness

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you're blessed with beautiful skin (I envy you) or you want something lighter than a BB cream then you'll adore this Tinted Skin Veil. The coverage is very sheer to begin with, however it is easily buildable while still leaving your skin looking smooth and fresh not heavy or cakey. It's perfect for day to day wear or school even for a "no-makeup, makeup" look with the way it enhances your natural skin by evening out the complexion. A really beautiful product and totally fits the current trend of minimal, fresh-faced makeup.
