I am finally a proud owner of a MAC lipstick (about time right?!). I would not be surprised if I was the second last person in this country to have one in my possession, considering how much of a cult following their lippies have gained over the years. There are an abundance of shades from all the colours of the rainbow to choose from with a variety of lovely finishes in their range of lipsticks, but 'Faux' was love at first swatch.
We've all heard of the cult classics like 'Velvet Teddy', 'Ruby Woo' and 'Creme Cup' (just to name a few) and they are especially worthy of their status, but the mauve trend is HOT and it's a colour that flatters many different skin tones.
'Faux' comes from the satin family and it is the most wearable muted mauve-pink for just about any makeup look and any occasion/time of the day. The formula is incredibly creamy and it definitely does have a medium-to-full buildable coverage as described, but it doesn't look patchy or streaky on the lips. This lipstick feels like a cushion matte but not uncomfortably drying in the slightest so even if you forgot to exfoliate your lips, this won't emphasize that flakiness at all. It feels ultra soft and light on the lips and application is an absolute dream!
Against my NC15 skin tone, this stunner of a shade helps to liven up my complexion a little more with the lightest layer and I'm left with the perfect "my lips but better" hue. Lately I've been wearing this lippie in combination with a natural looking base (a light coverage foundation or BB/CC cream - L'Oréal's Bonjour Nudista Skin Tint is a favourite of mine), a couple coats of mascara and I am out the door ready to go about my day. I haven't taken it out my makeup bag in over a month, so it's safe to say that I am in love with the entirety of this lipstick.
If you're a sucker for mauve tones or you're looking for a MAC lipstick, 'Faux' is 100% one to check out the next time you're at their counter. I definitely think if you were going to purchase a MAC lipstick for though, grab one that you know you'll wear to death because they are on the pricier side of the scale so you'd really want to get your money's worth! A few honorable mentions that I also think are absolute standouts are 'Whirl' (matte dirty rose), 'Twig' (brownish-pink) and 'Mehr' (dirty blue pink).
