The Amazing Benefits of Working Out

I have finally gotten off my butt and back into a regular workout routine and let me tell you, it feels absolutely amazing! While I've been upping my fitness game (and getting a rockin' bod!), I thought it would be a really great idea to share some incredible perks and reasons why I think everyone should incorporate an exercise routine into their daily lives.

We've heard it a million times before; working out is good for you but it doesn't just have to be about getting ripped or shedding a few kilos, and you'll be surprised by the level of positive effects exercising can have not only your physical health but mental as well. Here are some fantastic benefits that may totally shock you!

01. Increase in motivation: I struggle with motivation more often than I care to admit, and I become so frustrated with myself because I know I'm capable of doing great things when I set my mind to it. When I workout, a flood of endorphins make me feel invigorated and ready to crush some goals so my days aren't wasted watching terrible, can't look away day time TV.

02. Stress? What stress?: I'm someone who overthinks, gets anxious and at times I have zero zen factor. I've found yoga to be very helpful in calming my mind, reducing stress and having more clarity so I can go about my day feeling relaxed and focused. I either start my mornings with yoga or I end the day with it to unwind and be in a better head space. If you're a stress head like myself, I strongly recommend practicing yoga and the great thing is you can do it in the comfort of your own home.

03. Boosts self-confidence: My self-confidence fluctuates which I'm sure some of you can relate to because the truth is, we all lack it occasionally when we feel unhappy or unsatisfied with ourselves. There are lots of things you can do to remedy this but for me, sticking to a workout routine has slowly started to help me build up my confidence again, feel healthier inside and out, and becoming more ambitious.

04. You'll feel happier: That's what the studies say and I would have to agree! There are days where I'm just in a low mood and it's hard to snap out of it, but what really gives me a more permanent mood boost is regularly working out. Whether it's strength, aerobics, flexibility or endurance fitness activities, moving about releases those feel good chemicals in the brain (serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine) for a much happier you. It pretty much works as an anti-depressant so find an activity you love, and you'll notice a big improvement with your overall mood.

I started working out for two reasons; getting fitter and toning my body. I had no idea about these extra bonuses that come along with it, and it has brought out the best version of myself and I've missed her! My confidence is coming back, I like the person looking back at me in the mirror, I have more energy, I've gained some zen factor and I haven't felt this good in a long time. If you struggle with any of the above or you're simply just looking into improving your physical health, the benefits of working are truly incredible and it will do absolute wonders for you!

Now I know it's not as simple as throwing on some workout gear, going for a run and praying it'll fix everything (especially if you do suffer from depression), but I do believe it helps and it also depends on the individual so do what works best for you!

Have you thought about exercising? What does your workout routine involve?
