Drugstore Starter Kit

If you're new to makeup, knowing where to begin can be overwhelming as there are a lot of products and a lot of brands to choose from.
I find the best place to start is at your local drugstore for affordable but good quality makeup.
And to give you a few ideas, I have picked out 10 products that I think are perfect for a makeup starter kit!

Australis Cya Later Pores Primer

This primer does a great job at filling in my pores and creating a smooth base for my foundation.

It's a non-greasy formula that contains Vitamin E to moisturise, silicone to help control oily skin and almond oil to promote healthy skin.
It's similar to Benefit's POREfessional Primer except much more wallet friendly!
If you don't have an issue with large pores or oily skin, Australis do stock other primers to suit different skin types.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation with Comfort Serum in Light Porcelain

I like this foundation if I'm in need of full coverage and high SPF.
It's comfortable to wear and looks beautiful on the skin once blended.

I don't know about it lasting 25 hours because honestly, who really wears/wants to wear their makeup for over a day. However, it really does last all day on my skin!
I'm a big fan of Rimmel's products and this is my favourite foundation of theirs.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

It really does perform a miracle to your complexion!
It just gives you the most flawless application and gives your makeup a beautiful finish.
I like to use the flat side on larger areas of my face by dabbing the product and the pointed tip covers any blemishes.
Can be used with liquid foundations, powders and cream products.
It's so multi-functional, you could almost do your entire face makeup with this sponge alone!
I would definitely recommend getting your hands on one of these for your makeup kit, it's truly made a difference to the way my makeup looks.

e.l.f. Studio Maximum Coverage Concealer in Porcelain

If you have dark under eye circles, redness or spots that need covering, this concealer will do the job!
It's very full coverage, doesn't crease under the eyes and I haven't found it to cake up anywhere either which is a big positive!

NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation in Ivory

If you have oily skin like myself, a mattifying powder will help keep the oil away!
It's a smooth, soft powder that adds a little bit extra coverage to your makeup.
I like to use it as a finishing powder to set everything in place and it helps to keep my makeup matte for longer.
A great inexpensive powder for oily skin types or if you just prefer a matte look to your makeup.

Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in Pink Rose

Adding blush to your makeup routine can instantly liven up your face and this is a stunning shade for any skin tone!
It holds 4 different shades that give your cheeks a lovely glow once blended together.
I also like to lightly sweep it on my brow bone and temples for a natural looking glow to my skin.

L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in Blonde

If you're not feeling too confident in filling in your brows with a gel or pencil, an eyebrow mascara is a great product as it builds volume and adds more colour for a more defined brow without all the effort.
It's as simple as using short strokes to comb through your brows which will help to fill in any sparse areas and give you a fuller brow effect.
The Brow Artist Plumper also comes in the shade Dark Brunette and Transparent.

Models Prefer Nude Eyeshadow Palette

A handy little palette full of warm toned shades including matte and shimmers to create any look suitable for anyone.
Cab be worn alone for a soft and subtle look or mix the shades to create a smokey eye.
You can easily go from a day to night look with this palette.

It's also prefect for travelling!

Essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara

Mascara is an absolute staple in a makeup kit.
2 to 3 coats of this mascara and it will thicken and darken your lashes while making you look wide awake.
For best results, use a lash curler beforehand to give your lashes a curl boost.

Revlon ColorBurst Balm Stain in Smitten

These balm stains are amazing!
Quick and easy to use with no effort required.
They smell like peppermint and they add a
cooling feeling to your lips once applied.
It also leaves a bit of a stain on your lips so if it has worn off during the day, you'll still look good!
It's a wearable shade for day or night that leaves a satin finish on your lips and they feel very hydrating as it has shea, mango and coconut butter in their formula.

So they are what I think would be a great start to a makeup kit and I hope I was able to give you some ideas.
Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.
