Review | Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation

Almost every brand have released a cushion foundation at some point (which is great because I'm a big fan!), and Maybelline have now followed suit. I featured this foundation in my what's new at the drugstore earlier this month and now that I have given it a good try, it's time that I share my thoughts and opinions with you today.

PACKAGING
It's very compact in size which is great for travelling and the mirror is incredibly handy for applying on the go. Like most cushion products, it comes with its own applicator that I actually really like because it applies the foundation smoothly and evenly with ease. It's also fantastic for touching up and you don't have to worry about packing a foundation brush.

FORMULA
The lightweight formula means it's almost like a second skin - you just forget it's on your face because of how comfortable and breathable it is. It's creamy yet weightless and it blends like an absolute dream over the skin!

COVERAGE
Cushion foundations often have light coverage but can be built up to medium and this one is no different. It does well to even out my complexion, cover redness and hide minor imperfections, but if you have problematic skin including scarring you will definitely need to add some concealer if you're wanting a more perfected base.

FINISH
It leaves my skin looking fresh with a natural glowy finish that's perfect for daytime wear. Unfortunately the lightest shade of the bunch is slightly too dark for my skin tone (pale girl problems), so that's a bit of a bummer. It didn't emphasize my pores or look cakey on the skin - overall it has a lovely finish with no sign of oxidization.

LONGEVITY
I wore this to my dentist appointment and did a little shopping afterwards, mind you it was a very warm day and throughout the six hours of wear I only had to blot once (I have very oily skin). It held up surprisingly well considering and there wasn't a whole lot of fading, separating or melting either.

PROS
Lightweight formula
Breathable
Natural and radiant finish
Doesn't oxidize
Evens out the skin tone
Blends easily
Doesn't sink into pores or transfer too much

CONS
Limited shade range

FINAL THOUGHTS
I think it's a good foundation and the pros definitely outweigh the cons. If you're looking for a light coverage foundation for day to day or you just prefer minimal makeup, then this one is a great option to go for. They don't cater to all skin tones which is a shame, and if you have an oily skin type then be sure to pack blotting sheets. For me personally, it's not my favourite simply because it doesn't match my skin tone so I won't get that much wear out of it. However, if you find the right shade for you then this is a great foundation to have in your makeup bag.
