I had an absolute blast over in the states and I certainly did not return home empty handed. I have a bunch of exciting products to get through (mostly drugstore) so make yourself comfy and let's get on with this makeup haul!
Blushing Ambition from the Infallible Pro Matte Gloss range by L'Oreal is a dusty pink shade, great for day time wear. It doesn't dry completely matte which was a bit of a let down and it does rub off quite easily. However, the colour pay off is fantastic and the consistency is lovely also.
Wet n Wild isn't readily available here in Australia so I was happy to pick up a few of their products. I have been rather enjoying their MegaGlo Illuminating Palette in Catwalk Pink. For $5 you get 4 highlight shades that are equally beautiful in pigmentation. The quality definitely surprised me and it's perfect if you're on a budget!
I picked up this vibrant hot pink shade called Pink Lust by NYX from their Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick line and I've gotta say, I'm a fan! Lasting power is great and they are quite comfortable on the lips as well. Highly recommend these lipsticks, especially if you love a true matte finish.
I was wearing Maybelline's new Dream Velvet Foundation non-stop during my trip, I just couldn't get enough of it! I'm in the shade Warm Porcelain and I found that it matched my fair skin incredibly well. The texture is so lightweight on my skin and the coverage is medium but buildable. It did a wonderful job at giving me a flawless complexion and I love the velvety matte finish. It has easily become one of my favourite drugstore foundations!
I love a good mauve lip for Autumn and the Marvelous Mauve Cream Lip Stain from the Sephora Collection is simply perfection. It's silky in texture with high pigmentation but I what I like most about it, is that it contains Vitamin E to help prevent your lips from drying out. This shade is also a great dupe for Stila's All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina.
Another item I had been obsessed with ever since I bought it is the NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in the shade Porcelain. I think it's safe to say that I have found my ultimate go-to drugstore concealer! Everything from the formulation to the coverage to the shade (not too pink or too yellow) is truly amazing for the price and I 100% recommend it. It doesn't crease or cake up under the eye area either and I can see why this is one of their best sellers!
I was really curious about the Take On The Day Mattifying Powder by Wet n Wild as it says that it's oil absorbing but also light reflecting. I honestly wasn't sure about it at first but it grew on me. I like to use it for touching up throughout day just to rid that shine and I think it works well. The powder is very soft which I like and it doesn't add any colour or extra coverage to your makeup. A good inexpensive powder for setting and mattifying your makeup.
Tarte's Tartelette Tease Amazonian Clay Palette was too cute to resist! Perfect little palette for travelling as you have 4 light and dark matte shades, First Kiss (satin finish) and Crush (shimmer), so very versatile for creating day to night looks. The quality is absolutely amazing, just as I had expected and I adore the colourful packaging! I know I'll be getting a lot of use out of this one!
The Colour Riche Balm by L'Oreal is great for those 'no makeup' kind of days and it just adds a lovely sheer tint to your lips. It also has such a nourishing and hydrating formula. Caring Coral is one of those peachy shades that really suits my fair skin, and I've been wearing it a fair bit on days where I'm going for a more natural makeup look.
Sonia Kashuk is another brand that isn't available in Australia so I was eager to try one of her products. I couldn't go past a nude so I picked up the shade Nude Pink from the Satin Luxe Lip Color range and I think it's a gorgeous lip product. For a drugstore item, I couldn't believe how beautiful the quality is as well as the packaging, they really do feel and look luxurious!
I was loving the shades in Maybelline's new The Rock Nudes Palette! They are so edgy and sultry with the very shimmery gun metal grey and navy. The shades look stunning in the palette but sadly, when I was swatching some of the shades they weren't as pigmented as others which was a bit of a shame. I think it would be a good palette for somebody who would like to experiment with more dark, smoky shades. It's not a terrible product, just lacks a bit of pigmentation.
I was completely shocked by the quality of Wet n Wild's Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio, and I couldn't believe they're only $3! I went for Walking On Eggshells and I was super impressed by the colour pay off and how easy they are to blend across the eye. I like that the shadows are enriched with macadamia oil and that they have labelled each shade as a guide to application. Great for travelling and for someone who is looking to start out with makeup.
Now I know I am more than extremely late to the party but I finally decided to purchase the ever so popular Veil Mineral Primer by Hourglass. Boy am I glad that I did because it's worth the hype! It prolongs the wear of my makeup, protects my skin against UV rays, controls shine, visibly reduces the appearance of pores and much more. This primer literally does it all and to know it won best primer 3 years in a row, it truly is a must buy!
The lucky last product I have to share with you is NYX's Lip Lingerie in Push Up. If you love your matte nude shades then you'll love this range! Very creamy in texture and applies really well. I didn't find it to be sticky or overly drying which is nice so I think this is a great affordable lip product. I was not left disappointed and I am very much looking forward to purchasing more of their shades.
