Travel Makeup Bag Essentials

The holiday season is here and Christmas isn't too far away, which means it's almost time to pack our bags to spend time with our loved ones on this joyous occasion. When it comes to my travel makeup bag, I like to keep it simple by only carrying my absolute essentials and products that I know I can rely on. Here's a look at what travel friendly products I'll be taking along with me in my makeup bag.

L'Oreal's True Match Foundation has been around for as long as I can remember however, it's quite new to my makeup stash. This has a pretty golden glow throughout the formula and gives my skin a boost of radiance which I have been loving lately during Summer. It's super blendable and covers my imperfections beautifully. I have been reaching for this foundation almost every time so it's definitely coming with me in my travels!

I feel like Wet n Wild's Eyeshadow Trios deserve a lot more love because they actually blew me away with the colour pay off, so don't be put off by the price! I have the shade 'Walking On Eggshells' which is right up my alley as they are more on the neutral side, and it's perfect for a simple yet pretty eye look. I also like to use the shimmery cream brow bone shade as a cheekbone highlight and it does a wonderful job.

My cute little bottle of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer is the perfect size for travelling and it NEVER lets me down. It smooths out my skin so my foundation glides on seamlessly, it minimises shine, hides pores and keeps my makeup looking flawless all day long. I definitely think it's worth the investment - it's truly amazing.

I'm a big fan of e.l.f.'s products and one that I really enjoy using is their Baked Blush in 'Peachy Cheeky'. It has this lovely marbling throughout and the shade is a more subdued version of the Nars cult favourite - Orgasm (peach-gold). I love the glowy finish it leaves on my cheeks, and it's just one of those shades that looks great all year round with any makeup look.

Mascara makes a huge difference to your overall eye look so it's a step I never like to skip. I am STILL obsessed with the Wake Me Up Mascara by Rimmel for one reason alone; the fresh cucumber scent. I also like how well it defines my lashes and the wet formula doesn't clump my lashes together, or give me that spidery look that I'm personally not too fond of. It doesn't really give me out of this world length or volume, but I love it for day to day wear.

Face powder is a must-have, especially when you have an oily skin type because the last thing you want is all that effort to melt off your face. Illamasqua's Powder Foundation is incredibly velvet-soft in texture and I like to use it over the top of my foundation if I'm wanting a touch more coverage. You can totally use it alone if you like, I think it applies really well with a damp makeup sponge for fuller coverage.

New from Maybelline are their Vivid Matte Lip Colours and of course I went for a nude shade because you can never have enough of them, right? 'Nude Flush' (nude-pink) is such a wearable and flattering shade against my fair skin, and I absolutely adore it. The consistency is slightly mousse-like and one swipe gives you fantastic colour pay off. It dries to a semi-matte finish and lasts quite well throughout the day.

The Body Shop's Honey Bronze would have to be my most used bronzer simply because it blends like a dream and it looks SO natural on the skin. It has a beautiful silky texture and the shade 01 is more neutral so it doesn't look overly warm toned on my fair skin. If I had to pack one bronzer, this would be it. Wherever I go, this follows!

The lucky last ultimate travel makeup bag essential is a makeup setting spray. To ensure my makeup stays put all night long, I always spritz some prior to my foundation and then again as my final step. Urban Decay's De-Slick has been a favourite of mine for a good while now, because it does what it claims and does it well. It works wonders for me, so if you have oily skin I highly recommend checking this one out.
