The Style Edit | Stripes

You guys know I don't typically write about fashion but the idea of doing a little series of different style pieces got me really excited, and I thought it would be a great way to bring some more variety to the blog. Now I've never been big on wearing stripes but it has somehow eased its way into my wardrobe, and something about Spring has got me crazy about this staple piece.

Stripes are always on trend which is why it makes for a great addition to your wardrobe and it's also incredibly versatile. For a casual coffee on the weekend, a shopping spree in the city, to a day at the office, stripes are quite stylish and can be paired with items you already have hanging in your closet like jeans and skirts.

Lately one of my go-to ensembles has been this basic striped high neck top (a bargain from H&M!) paired with black distressed jeans, embellished boots and a blue denim jacket. I love playing with different textures and prints, so the stripes against the two colours of denim as well as the embellished suede boots just looked cool and casual with a bit of an edge.

I have been day dreaming about a few specific outfits with one including a basic striped tee, black culottes and a pair of athletic shoes with a leather jacket. And the second being more put together with a striped blouse, chunky necklace, camel coat and black skinny jeans. Another outfit that I can see myself wearing on a day out this season is a loose fitted black and white striped tee, knee length skirt and flats for a cute and relaxed look. Even throw on a blazer to dress it up if need be.

The possibilities are endless when styling stripes no matter what the occasion or mood you're in, and they are a definite must-have for your capsule wardrobe collection! Whether you prefer simple yet chic, sailor-esque or french style, stripes will always have a place in the wide world of fashion.
