The Autumnal Lip

I've been counting down the days and Autumn has finally arrived here in Australia, which I am over the moon about because Summer just isn't my thing. It's time to bring out those gorgeous plum and deep burgundy shades of lip colours that have Autumn written all over them, so you can get into the spirit of what this season is all about. Here are my top picks for creating the ultimate Autumn inspired lip.

Rich pigmentation along with a lovely formula that feels so nice on the lips, and the deeper shades from the range are just stunning. 'Snapdragon' is a caramel-brown that isn't typically a colour I reach for, but it gives me such an Autumn vibe so I had to include it in this post. I love the sweet vanilla-like scent of these lipsticks as they remind me of cozy Autumn nights with hot chocolate and marshmallows. I also really like how this shade brings warmth to my cool toned complexion - it's definitely a new favourite of mine this season.

I love a matte lip during the cooler months and this new line from Rimmel have definitely won me over! Not only are they comfortable to wear without any sort of flaking, the colour pay off is simply amazing. The shade 'The Matte Factor' is definitely more on the red side of the scale, but slightly deeper with a hint of pink which makes it a very flattering berry-red tone. A classic shade like this can be worn all year round, especially in Autumn.

From top to bottom: ArabicaSnapdragon, Touch of Spice & The Matte Factor.

'Touch of Spice' is a lot more wearable and it's a gorgeous dark mauve shade (right up my alley!), that's also a really great dupe for 'Twig' by MAC. Overall it's a good quality lipstick for the price which is why this range is so loved by the beauty community. If you're not into browns or reds, then a mauve will totally give you that Autumn feel.

You cannot go past a brown lip colour to capture the essence of the season but unlike 'Snapdragon', 'Arabica' is much more of a deep reddish-brown with a beautiful glossy finish that makes your pout look plump. The formula is extremely hydrating and the precision tip makes it so easy to apply when you have thin lips (like myself). It is just saturated in colour so you don't need to build it up at all to create an even finish on the lips. I highly suggest swatching these for yourself because they are fantastic!

  1. I love the look of Touch Of Spice, I was actually going to buy that shade but we were heading into summer so I figured I'd hold off until autumn rolled around again!
